OVERVIEW: 

The Yuma Proving Ground is a U.S. Army installation used for testing military equipment and ground combat weapon systems. Spanning over 1,300 square miles, Yuma Proving Ground is one of the largest military installations in the world.  Yuma Proving Ground is a subordinate command of the Army Test and Evaluation Command.

Yuma Proving Ground is the Department of Defense’s (DoD) premier test and evaluation site for improvised explosive devices (IED). Military Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) are routinely flown at Yuma Proving Ground. There are six airfields located at Yuma Proving Ground.  In addition to UAVs, helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft fly at Yuma Proving Ground. Military personnel and cargo parachute drops are conducted. DoD conducts nearly all military long-range artillery testing at Yuma Proving Ground. 

Yuma Proving Ground has over 3,000 military, federal civil service, and defense contractor personnel. Yuma Proving Ground's annual economic impact on the southwestern Arizona region is estimated to exceed $430 million.

Contracting Support for Yuma Proving Ground:
Contracting support for the Yuma Proving Ground is provided by the Army Contracting Command (ACC) and Mission and Installation Contracting Command (MICC) base contracting office. The MICC at Yuma Proving Ground awards and administers government contracts and unit micro purchases for services, products, equipment, and support for organizations and agencies operating at this Army installation.
