OVERVIEW: 

The host unit for Sheppard Air Force Base (AFB) is the 82nd Training Wing (82 TW). The 82nd Training Wing graduates over 19,300 students in an average year. It provides 124 resident, mobile and distance learning courses for Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps, and Army personnel. The 82nd TW provides specialized technical training, medical, and field training for military personnel, federal civilians, and allied foreign national students. 

The 82nd Mission Support Group provides provides base support, security, logistics, communications, supplies, civil engineering, housing and facilities for both permanent and temporary personnel assigned to this military installation.

In addition to the 82nd Training Wing, Sheppard AFB is home to the 80th Flying Training Wing. The 80 FTW provides military flight training for North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) pilots. 

There are over 12,500 military, civilian and contractor personnel assigned to this base. Over 60,000 students graduate annually from the combined 12,214 courses taught by all units at Sheppard AFB. The annual economic impact of Sheppard AFB is over $734 million.

Sheppard AFB Contracting Office
Government contracting support for Sheppard AFB is provided by the 82nd Contracting Squadron (82nd CONS).  Each year, the 82nd CONS awards and administers millions of dollars in Government contracts.  A large percentage of these contracts are reserved for small businesses.
