OVERVIEW: 

The host unit for Shaw Air Force Base (AFB) is the 20th Fighter Wing (20th FW).  Shaw is also home to Headquarters, Ninth Air Force, U.S. Air Forces Central, U.S. Army Central, and Third Army.  Shaw AFB has over 25 Department of Defense (DoD) organizations and federal agencies located on its grounds.  

Shaw AFB has nearly 8,000 active duty military and federal civilian personnel.  The base encompasses over 3,569 acres.  The base also manages 12,500 acres of DoD property at Poinsett Electronic Combat Range Complex.  The Poinsett range is located southwest of Shaw AFB.

Government contracting support for Shaw AFB is provided by the 20th Contracting Squadron (20th CONS).  Each year, the 20th CONS awards and administers over $100 million of dollars in government contracts.  A large percentage of these contracts are reserved for small businesses. There are also numerous business opportunities for small businesses wanting to serve as subcontractors to prime government contractors providing support to projects and operations at Shaw AFB.
