The Naval Air Weapons Station at China Lake NAWS China Lake conducts research, development, acquisition, testing and evaluation (RDAT&E) of U.S. Navy air weapons systems.  

NAWS China Lake is the U.S. Navy's largest installation comprises 38% of the Navy’s land holdings worldwide. NAWS China Lake spans over 1.1 million acres. On this naval installation are more than 2,132 buildings and facilities. Navy Installations Command - Navy Region Southwest is responsible for supporting and maintaining NAWS China Lake. Aircraft operations at NAWS China Lake are conducted at Armitage Field.
