OVERVIEW:   MCAS New River is the Marine Corps' largest rotary aircraft (helicopter) installation and airbase on the eastern coast. This airbase supports over 5,500 Marines and DoD military personnel who are located on the installation. In addition, there are over 150 federal civilian employees and defense contractors working at the airbase. MCAS New River is home to the 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing and a number of base support units.  The aircraft flown and maintained at MCAS New River include: AH-1W Super Cobra helicopter  MV-22 Osprey tiltrotor aircraft CH-53-E Super Stallion helicopter  UH-1N Huey Helicopter  C-12F Huron aircraft

Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) New River is located in Jacksonville, North Carolina.

Much of the support and resources needed to operate MCAS New River come from nearby MCAS Cherry Point and MCB Camp Lejeune. Government contracting support is primarily provided by Camp Lejeune's Contracting Office. The contracting office at Camp Lejeune awards and manages hundreds of millions of dollars in defense contracts annually. Many of these contracts are reserved (set aside) for small business concerns.
