OVERVIEW: 

Laughlin AFB is home to the 47th Flight Training Wing (47th FTW). The 47th FTW conducts Specialized Undergraduate Pilot Training (SUPT) for U.S. Air Force, Air National Guard (ANG), Air Force Reserve (AFR), and allied international air forces. 

Working at Laughlin AFB are more than 1,400 military personnel and 1,360 civilian employees. The 47th FTW's payroll (military and civilian) totals $119 million. Its total annual economic impact is estimated at more than $218 million. 

There are currently 217 training aircraft assigned to the 47th FTW. This includes the T-6A Texan II, T-38 Talon, and the T-1A Jayhawk training aircraft. The 47th FTW training program exceeds 80,000 flying hours and 54,000 sorties in an average year.
