OVERVIEW: 

The 319th Air Base Wing is the host unit for Grand Forks AFB.  The 319th ABW provides operating support for on-base personnel, two tenant units, and 11 geographically separated units. The 319th ABW has approximately 1,400 military personnel. The 319th ABW provides logistics, civil engineer, contracting, communications, medical, security and force support activities for on-base personnel, facilities, and equipment. 

Other units at Grand Forks AFB include the Department of Homeland Security, Customs and Border Protection, the 69th Reconnaissance Group, and the 119th Wing (a North Dakota Air National Guard unit). At Grand Forks, the United States Customs and Border Protection operates the MQ-9 Predator B aircraft, the 69th Reconnaissance Group operates the RQ-4 Global Hawks aircraft, and the 178th Reconnaissance Squadron operates the MQ-1 Predator. 

Grand Forks AFB is one of two locations worldwide operating the High Frequency Global Communications System which provides communications for all Department of Defense (DoD) agencies, including the President of the United States.
