OVERVIEW:  

Fort Polk is home to the Joint Readiness Training Center (JRTC).  This Army installation is host to a number of military units to include: the 3rd Brigade Combat Team (3rd BCT), the 1st Maneuver Enhancement Brigade (MEB), the 5th Aviation Battalion, the 115th Corps Support Hospital (CSH), and the Bayne-Jones Army Community Hospital

Fort Polk is a huge military installation with over 198,000 acres.  This includes 100,000 acres of land owned and maintained directly by the U.S. Army. The remaining 98,000 acres are owned and maintained by the U.S. Forest Service.

There are approximately 10,900 military personnel assigned to Fort Polk. Fort Polk both trains and deploys combat Army units. There are also about 4,500 government contractors working at this Army installation. The annual economic impact of Fort Polk is estimated at $1.5 billion.

In an average year, Fort Polk contracts with private industry for about $441 million for services and construction. In addition, another $48 million is spent for the procurement of supplies and equipment each year. These government contracts and procurements include nearly $100 million in direct micro purchases and small business "set-aside contracts".
