Fort Leavenworth is home to the U.S. Army Combined Arms Center (CAC). The CAC includes important educational institutions such as the Army Command and General Staff College. This college is attended by U.S. Army majors as well as selected officers from the other U.S. military services and allied international armed forces. Supporting this college is the Combined Arms Research Library (a comprehensive military research center).
Fort Leavenworth is the oldest continuously active military installation located west of the Mississippi River. Co-located Fort Leavenworth is the U.S. Disciplinary Barracks and the Midwest Joint Regional Correctional Facility.
Located at Fort Leavenworth is the U.S. Army's Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) Analysis Center (TRAC). TRAC is TRADOC's primary analytical organization. It is tasked with studying integrated battlefield operations as related to doctrine, organization, training, materiel, personnel, and leadership. TRAC designs and develops combat / deployment models and simulations.
