OVERVIEW:

Fort Campbell is home to a number of U.S. Army and Air Force units to include the famous 101st Airborne Division (known as the "Screaming Eagles"). The 101st Airborne Division is a light infantry division that specializes in air assault operations. The 101st Airborne operates the most helicopters of any U.S. Army division.

Also located at Fort Campbell is the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (known as the "Night Stalkers"). The 160th SOAR is an Army special operations force.  The 160th SOAR provides helicopter aviation support for both general purpose combat forces and special operations forces. Normally the 160th SOAR's missions are conducted at night and on short notice. Co-located at Fort Campbell is the 5th Special Forces Group. The 5th SFG primarily conducts operations in the Central Command (CENTCOM) region (Southwest Asia - Iraq and Afghanistan).

Fort Campbell has approximately 30,000 military employees; the largest population of military personnel in Kentucky.  There are also approximately 2,300 DoD civilian employees at this Army installation. In an average year, Fort Campbell awards and/or administers over $342 million in government contracts. A significant portion of these contracts are set-aside for small business concerns.
