Westover ARB is home to many military units and organizations. The two major units at Westover ARB are the 439th Airlift Wing and Headquarters, 4th Air Force. Westover ARB shares two runways with the Westover Metropolitan Airport. Westover ARB encompasses approximately 2,500 acres.
The 439th Airlift Wing conducts a global airlift mission. It flies and maintains eight C-5B aircraft. The 439th Airlift Wing also has an operational support squadron, an operational aeromedical evacuation squadron, and an airlift control flight.
The 439th Airlift Wing has approximately 4,000 military and civilian employees. There is also over 680 personnel working at 15 tenant organizations at Westover ARB. The 439th Airlift Wing's Mission Support Group performs a wide range of support functions such as: civil engineering, human resources, security, communications, morale, welfare and recreation; base readiness, logistics readiness, supply, transportation, aerial ports, and bio-environmental engineering.
