Moody AFB is home to the 23rd Wing. The 23d Wing has six groups and one detachment. The 23rd Wing has over 6,000 military and civilian personnel. These personnel serve at four different Air Force installations / ranges. (These locations include: Moody Air Force Base, Davis-Monthan AFB, Arizona, Nellis AFB, Nevada, and Avon Park Air Force Range, Florida.)

Moody AFB is the home of the Air Force's famous "Flying Tigers." This composite wing flies and maintains three different types of aircraft, the HC-130J Combat King II personnel recovery aircraft, HH-60G Pave Hawk helicopter, and the A-10C Thunderbolt (close air support fighter jet).

Another key unit at Moody AFB is the 93rd Air Ground Operations Wing (AGOW). The 93rd AGOW has three groups with more than 2,800 military personnel dispersed at 20 locations across the United States. These Air Force members support U.S. Army combat divisions.
